An
Introduction to Bay House The School has been heavily over-subscribed since the early 1980s and has increased in size to 12 forms of entry. The total number on roll in the current year is over 2,100. The School's intake is confined to its catchment area, except for those families living outside still able to place their children in the School because of siblings already attending Bay House. Overall, about half the pupils live in the urban area of Gosport, to the north and east of the School. The remainder are drawn from the more economically favoured, suburban areas of Alverstoke and Lee-on-the-Solent. A Level results are outstanding: in 2008, for the ninth year running, the School's average A/AS Level point score was one of the highest in Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight combined. Indeed, we remain in The Times' Top Comprehensives for A Level, and feature in The Times' Top Schools (including independent and selective schools). In addition to being a specialist school for Maths and Computing, we have achieved the Artsmark Award and we are fully involved in contributing to the National STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) agenda. Our latest Ofsted report (March 2008) described the School as, ‘Good with several outstanding features’. The Sixth Form, the curriculum and pupil behaviour were all graded outstanding.
